Review this week's message.

Key Thought:

While you wait for God to answer your prayers, are you preparing yourself for what He has ahead of you?

Key Quote

“Often times the reason God lets us get to the brink of our emotions is so we can learn self control. God can be counted on. He has not forgotten you.” Pastor Bil Cornelius

Start talking. Find a conversation starter for your group.
  • What is something you have been waiting for lately?
  • What is your favorite holiday of the year and why?
  • Are you someone who waits patiently, or do you tend to take matters into your own hands when things aren't happening fast enough?

Start thinking. Ask a thoughtful question.
  • Joseph remained faithful through hardship, temptation, and being forgotten before God elevated him. What do you think God wants to develop in us during seasons of waiting?
  • Pastor Bil challenged us to get our house in order while we wait. What are some areas of our lives we may need to prepare before God opens the next door?

Start sharing. Choose questions that create openness.
  • If God opened a door for you tomorrow that you have been praying for, what might you need to work on today to be ready for that opportunity?
  • Have you ever experienced a season when you felt forgotten or tempted to compromise while waiting for God? How did that season shape your faith and trust in Him?

Start doing. Commit to a step and live it out this week.
  • What is one practical step you can take this week to get your house in order, resist compromise, or remain faithful where God has placed you as you wait for Him?

Scriptures

The Lord was with Joseph, so he succeeded in everything he did as he served in the home of his Egyptian master.  Potiphar noticed this and realized that the Lord was with Joseph, giving him success in everything he did.  This pleased Potiphar, so he soon made Joseph his personal attendant. He put him in charge of his entire household and everything he owned. 5 From the day Joseph was put in charge of his master’s household and property, the Lord began to bless Potiphar’s household for Joseph’s sake. All his household affairs ran smoothly, and his crops and livestock flourished.  So Potiphar gave Joseph complete administrative responsibility over everything he owned. With Joseph there, he didn’t worry about a thing—except what kind of food to eat!  Genesis 39:2-6a NLT

..Joseph was a very handsome and well-built young man, and Potiphar’s wife soon began to look at him lustfully. “Come and sleep with me,” she demanded.  But Joseph refused. “Look,” he told her, “my master trusts me with everything in his entire household.  No one here has more authority than I do. He has held back nothing from me except you, because you are his wife. How could I do such a wicked thing? It would be a great sin against God.”  Gen. 39:6b-9NLT

One day, however, no one else was around when he went in to do his work.  Genesis 39:11NLT

“..please remember me and do me a favor when things go well for you. Mention me to Pharaoh, so he might let me out of this place.”  Genesis 40:14 NLT

Two full years later, Pharaoh dreamed.. Genesis 41:1 NLT

Finally, the king’s chief cup-bearer spoke up. “Today I have been reminded of my failure,” he told Pharaoh.  “Some time ago, you were angry with the chief baker and me, and you imprisoned us in the palace of the captain of the guard. 11 One night the chief baker and I each had a dream, and each dream had its own meaning. 12 There was a young Hebrew man with us in the prison who was a slave of the captain of the guard. We told him our dreams, and he told us what each of our dreams meant.  And everything happened just as he had predicted.  Genesis 41:9-13 NLT

Pharaoh sent for Joseph at once, and he was quickly brought from the prison. After he shaved and changed his clothes, he went in and stood before Pharaoh. 15 Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I had a dream last night, and no one here can tell me what it means. But I have heard that when you hear about a dream you can interpret it.” “It is beyond my power to do this,” Joseph replied. “But God can tell you what it means and set you at ease.”  Genesis 41:14-16 NLT

“Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow...  Matthew 6:34a MSG
